In the 2010’s, Charlie and Marianne Cromeans felt that there was something lacking in the church they were attending at the time. The church was great, with lots of heartfelt Christian love for Jesus and for each other. It was filled with wonderful people, and was lead by Holy Spirit guided pastors. Yet, with the busy-ness of our modern society, it seemed that church only got together on Sundays for a very liturgical, formal, scheduled time just getting people in and out, quickly, that felt more like fast food service than the Supper of the Lamb. Many people in the congregation were going through griefs, hurts, and traumas without really connecting with their fellow believers to “share one another’s burdens” as the Bible instructs Christians to do because there just was never time for that.
Charlie and Marianne made a special time in their home that they called “Hope and Healing” which, in its time, ministered to hundreds of people.
You are invited to Sedalia, Missouri’s “Hope and Healing” Ministry, but please check out the rules below:
What is said at a “Hope and Healing” event STAYS at the “Hope and Healing” event: Breaking this rule would ruin the ministry for everyone. If you can’t handle this first, most important rule, then Hope and Healing isn’t for you.
No one is pressured to say anything at all: Someone may want to take time to feel comfortable first, and there is no race to do that. Someone may want to see and feel that we are for real, and feel a level of trust and closeness with the group before they share. Maybe they just want to listen and know they are not alone.
Use Common Sense Regarding Rule 1: The Hope and Healing Ministry IS a place to discuss things like: a.) the pain of divorce, b.) the stress of having a family member with cancer, c.) challenges of child-rearing, d.) the loss of a spouse, e.) or anything (depression, anxiety, grief) that robs us of our joy in life. It IS NOT a place to discuss a.) where bodies are buried, b.) intention to harm others, c.) or anything that would legally obligate us to report information to authorities.
We will listen to you and pray with you, asking Jesus to surround us all with His love and to show us the way through whatever troubles we face in this life. We will listen with all the love and compassion that Jesus puts in our hearts so that we, as Christians, can “bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.”–Galatians 6:2
